NEWS: GUCCI MANE WORKING IN THE CLINK

The rapper said he wrote than 50 songs while serving six months in jail.
Radric Davis, more commonly known as rapper Gucci Mane, is still facing more time behind bars but can find consolation in the fact that his CD, The State vs. Radric Davis, released at #1 on The Billboard rap chart in December. The artist, 30, is looking forward to two new albums this year, The State vs. Radric Davis: The Appeal and The State vs. Radric Davis: The Verdict, after the probable end of his sentence next month.
What’s more, in an interview with The Associated Press, Gucci Mane said he was able to write 50 to 60 songs while locked up because of a “peace within” that he didn’t have before.
He was additionally able to record a mixtape album, The BurrrPrint 2HD, with DJ Holiday that will drop on April 13. The mixtape, which will feature rappers Ludacris, Nicki Minaj and Waka Flocka Flame among others, consists of raps recorded over the phone and other unreleased songs by Gucci Mane.
Gucci Mane’s guest appearances on popular mainstream songs, such as Mariah Carey’s “Obsessed” and Usher’s “Spotlight,” marked a new height in his career as well as his expansion to new audiences.
“It felt good to finally be noticed and get some kind of acclaim,” he said to the AP. “This is by far the most praise I’ve ever gotten. It feels like all my hard work is getting recognized. It makes me work even harder.”
He hopes to avoid future incarceration by thinking about the consequences before he acts and has even begun to try to mentor the younger inmates.
“Any decision I make is a heavy decision,” he said. “I got a lot of people who depend on me. Everything I do has so much weight on it.”
Gucci Mane was incarcerated last year after a probation violation.
